New Single from OldSkool Rockers skinsNbones Forever On

skinsNbones is a collaboration of Aussie muso’s featuring the powerhouse voice of Jason Kafoa, forming in December 2019. From diverse backgrounds and experience but all with a love of rock music.

Together we’ve created a sound all of our own, based around thumping rhythms, in your face brutal guitar and soaring melodies, sung with one of rock’s most dynamic voices. Keeping it simple, all feel and no frills. By sicking to this formula we’ve produced new 6 ball Aussie classic rock anthems which appeal to all generations. Our songs have meaningful and thought provoking lyrics written about real life issues that extend to social issues and the questions these issues raise.

One reason our logo is a “?” is skinsNbones like to raise questions and/or issues to get people to think, to question, to use their discernment, even with what we’re saying. Increasing awareness and perception, being able to discern what is and is not, is vital these days.

We are not about self promotion but the promotion of the issues our songs raise.

Using skinsNbones oldSkool rock with nuSkool roll.

About Forever On:

Two things. skinsNbones songs rarely have 1 storyline.

1.   skinsNbones feel strongly about reducing stigma associated to mental dis-ease, or what Bones the lyricist calls “mental difference” and asks: “What would the world be like without mental difference?”

Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Isaac Newton, Beethoven, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, we could go “Forever On”, all had mental dis-ease/difference. Without them thinking and seeing the world so differently where would we be? No E=mc^2! No understanding of electrical energy that we’re now only just using! and the art! Where would we be without such beauty?! Such inspiration!

The world’s greatest minds had mental dis-ease/difference which is why they thought DIFFERENTLY, in ways others couldn’t even dream. The world would be very bland and backwards without mental dis-ease/difference. Plus, mental dis-ease/difference is linked to higher IQ and also helps develops a higher EQ, an ability to empathise & care. So, “What would the world be like without mental difference?” Without seeing “new views” from being “around the bend”? This song is an Ode to Mental Difference, to help change perception, to learn it has all-ways added beauty and greatness to the world, been a huge part of the progression of the world. Learning about, and embracing your difference, makes a difference.

2.   Keeping it short, the 2nd story is finding the inner light within Self, or from a higher Source, from tough experiences and using them to become more enlightened, a better person, fully accepting that mis-takes will be made, “wrongs”, that will be used to grow and not to put one’s Self down but help lift them up. Use “the rocks that tripped (you) up” as stepping stones for others. Use all ways to learn, grow and burn brighter and brighter in Spirit “Forever On”. skinsNbones promotes how beneficial Self growth is, especially from hard times. That becoming a better being, not a bitter being, is healthy for not just your Self but also the world around you.

Alternative Rock Three Piece Seven Spies Release Debut Single

Formed in London by childhood friends, Seven Spies are a three-piece band looking to infiltrate the ears of the world. Consisting of David Blomiley (vocals, guitar, piano), Olly Brown (drums, backing vocals) and an ever-rotating bassist taking form of old band members and musical friends, you can expect to witness a healthy dose of melodic riffs and anthemic choruses.

Seven Spies fuses the best of rock bands such as Muse and Radiohead, while highlighting vocals reminiscent of Jeff Buckley and Bjork. Billie Eilish’s use of intimate multi-tracking also makes an appearance throughout their music, along with the big riffs and fuzzy guitars of Rage Against the Machine and Jack White. This amalgam of diverse artists and influences, allows Seven Spies to carve out a pocket of sound that is entirely their own.

Their highly anticipated debut single “Chameleon” narrates the different faces, personas and behaviour we put on to negotiate our daily lives in different situations and the pressure people place on themselves to hide their struggles and internal demons to the outside world. Sonically the chorus shows a defiance against these pressures, external and internal, saying in the end they won’t overwhelm or control who or how we want to be. Blomiley confides, “The subject of the songs seems to be stuff that has been bubbling away inside of me for a while that I need to get out. I find song writing massively therapeutic in a way.”

Self-produced by Blomiley and Brown in their bedroom studio and mastered by John Davis (The Killers, Lana del Rey, Royal Blood, Lewis Capaldi, Gorillaz) at Metropolis Studios, “Chameleon” delivers an intimate, yet polished result. Featuring gritty, raucous guitars, tenacious melodies and textured harmonies, showcasing Blomiley’s impressive vocals, “Chameleon” is an energetic release, bursting with both conviction and charisma.

With the hope their music may connect with listeners, allowing them to make their own relationship and associations, regardless of the intention or creation, Seven Spies are unleashing their explosive sound.

Highway Solos Musicians Unite for Italy’s Covid 19 Disaster

Covid 19 Fundraiser

We have always thought that music unites.

In every area, in every genre, in every situation, Music is inspiration, Music has the power to raise us above human events, Music gives wings to our hopes …
And the hope is what we all hold on to today, so that we can return to our lives as soon as possible and defeat this health emergency that is upsetting and destroying our lives.

But to do this, there is also a need for the desire and commitment of each of us, because only all together we are strong, united and we can fight and win.

With “HIGHWAY SOLOS”, Elevate Records wanted to engage in a beneficial project with some of the best Italian musicians, physically divided but spiritually united and connected to each other, in a song that is an imaginary journey along one of the hundred highways that connect our wonderful country .
Today more than ever, we gather around those who are indomitable in trying to save lives, amid a thousand difficulties and lack of tools and means to deal with this pandemic in an adequate way; for this reason all the musicians involved in “HIGHWAY SOLOS” propose to raise funds in favor of the SACCO hospital in Milan,ITALY,  committed to the forefront of the virus emergency, by purchasing the piece that bears its name for this project on the digital stores and through the company.

This massive collaboration, in which each person involved gave their contribution completely free of charge, was carried out in a very short time in order to be able to contribute as quickly as possible to face a terrible and unexpected danger.

Through this passage you will be able to carve out an emotional space in which to travel, in which to feel only positive vibrations, in which to perceive that united you can really make a difference in a moment when you need one another, even from a distance.

UNITED, TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

Musicians in order of appearance:

Stefano Sebo Xotta
Nicola Denti
Simone Gianlorenzi
Luca Colombo
Matteo Brigo
Fabrizio Bicio Leo-Bis
Marco Sfogli
DANIELE GOTTARDO
Francesco Corapi
Andy Martongelli
Mistheria (keyboards )
Roberto Fasciani(bass)
Valerio Lucantoni

(drums

The realization of the song, from video to audio, was carried out completely remotely, each in its isolation due to the quarantine, but the result shows that it is possible to stay united and make projects even with the strength of volotà and desire to do and be together.

Crystal Ignite Releases Supercharged Fusion of Rock Electronica

Icon The Great is Back For More with Tripper Remix

Rock Artist

Crystal Ignite makes music supercharged with kinetic emotion. Meshing together the parallel universes of analogue and digital, the Melbourne singer sweeps through the decades, building stadium-sized rock laced with pulsating electronica and deep, heavy grooves. Her debut album Infinite Alchemy (due out later this year) is a lyrical and musical barrage – focused, purposeful and uninhibited – that tells her story in alternating waves of shadow and illumination. Led by searing first single  Black Mamba, it’s as real and honest as music gets.

A true survivor, Crystal has risen from an extreme, life-altering childhood to become the artist she is today: honest, bare-all and fearless. Infinite Alchemy is a both a testament to the adversity she has overcome, and a victory over it. Slicing through the music like shards of broken glass, Crystal’s lyrics are pure bloodletting catharsis. The very moniker of Ignite is symbolic of her ascension from darkness to light, which she has funnelled into Infinite Alchemy. Every part of her love, her aggression, her regret and her optimism have been poured into the album like molten rock.

“The sounds blend light and dark, masculine and feminine, Yin and Yang,” she explains. “Its all about the magic of cosmic alchemy, and acknowledging shadow, which ultimately sees you end up rising higher and creating more light.”

This echoes throughout Infinite Alchemy, which broadcasts a clear message that Ignite and many other artists know all too well: that a strong and powerful woman will always be a threat to some. Much like its reptilian namesake, the making of single Black Mamba has been a process of shedding skin – of growing beyond the past and into the present.t’s as real and honest as music gets.

Although deeply personal, the album is not just Crystal’s manifesto but a message to all those seeking to find their inner strength: you are the Black Mamba, if you choose to be. Beyond any of her musical achievements, this is Crystal Ignite’s inextinguishable power. She is a warrior.

New Indie Rock Music from East Of Zurich Band

Indie Rock Band

EAST OF ZURICH – ‘ROLL OVER’

New Indie Rock Music from East Of Zurich Band

Indie rock is much beloved here in Brisbane, Australia. From Powderfinger and Regurgitator in the 90s, through to Violent Soho and Dune Rats now, this city has a soft spot for guitar-driven (melodic) rock music. So, I predict that the music of East of Zurich should go over well in their hometown and that the band’s latest single, “Roll Over”, should be a hit on 4ZZZ.

Comprising of Martin Brabec, David Simpendorfer, Nick Ng and Anthony Timbrell, East of Zurich’s brand of indie rock harkens back not only to the early 90s, but also to the garage band sounds of 80s Australian acts such as The Stems and Hoodoo Gurus. Indeed, Timbrell states that the lyrics for “Roll Over” were inspired by an idea to make a “rollicking surf song in the spirit of Hoodoo Gurus”.

The track is solid, a kind of medium-paced ballad overlaid with lush organ sounds, rounded off with earthy production values.

Listening to “Roll Over”, you would never guess that East of Zurich have only been playing together for the last 18 months. On the strength of this, one can only imagine how strong their songwriting will be in 18 months from now.

Due for release on 6th March.

Simon says 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Chief State Could Easily Be Opening Up For Larger Bands

Punk Rock Indie Band

Chief State – ‘Tough Love’

Good Ol’ Fashion Bona Fide Music From Dallas Cosmas

So it’s February 2020 & I have to say Pop-Punk has been off my radar for a while.

Had the pleasure to be re-introduced via some new blood ( they formed in 2016 ) who hail from Vancouver, British Columbia.

‘Chief State’ is a five piece of young lads who have an album being released late March through ‘Mutant League Records’.

Their new collection of songs has been titled ‘Tough Love’ & just a few days ago their new single (Reprise) debuted its video.

The track opens with high energy riffage & It’s matched with the angst-coated scream of,

“I’ll Tread Light Where You Lay, I Should Be Pushing You Away”

Ah now you see, that’s what I’ve been missing!

Catchy guitar licks follow to lead into an anthemic chorus, perfect for a bunch of punters to chant along to
while the clacking of skateboards is heard in the distance.

‘Chief State’ have stuck to the structure that has made this genre popular & it must be hard to bring something fresh to the plate.

Frontman Fraser Simpson’s lyrical content is written from personal experience & ‘Reprise’ has depth I hadn’t personally felt from punk in a long time.

These guys could easily be opening for larger acts & dare I say, leave some of the dinosaur bands thinking they need to step up their game.

Looking forward to the new album release but for the single I’m giving 8.5 Maple Leaves out of 10

Heart to Heart are back With New Single Insufferable

Rock Band

Quiet is nice. Quiet is comfortable. But quiet is dangerous, too — because quiet is the perfect disguise for a revolution.

Nick Zoppo knows this. Zoppo is the frontman of Heart to Heart, an energetic California rock quintet that formed a decade ago and has toured North America countless times. Even though the band cultivated a dedicated following and released two stellar full-lengths, Heart to Heart slowly receded from the music scene, laying mostly dormant the past few years. What made Zoppo put his passion on hold? His other passion: professional wrestling.

“In 2015, I moved to Chicago to train with WWE Superstar Seth Rollins,” Zoppo explains, “and three months turned into three-and-a-half years. In that time period, we were still playing a few shows and were still sending music ideas back and forth, it was just a little more tough with me being in the Midwest. I inevitably had to move back to California, and once I came back, we started rocking and rolling again.”

Zoppo’s alter ego, the “Outlandish Zicky Dice”, took the independent wrestling scene by storm, landing him bookings all across the world. Inspired by his character, Zoppo returned to Heart to Heart with a renewed passion, and his fellow bandmates — guitarist/vocalists Johnathan Hayes and Alex Lulow, bassist Justin Bratcher, and drummer AJ Wright — were just as excited to get to work.

The result is Heartbreaker, a six-song release that’s as musically aggressive as it is inherently melodic. It’s the kind of stuff that would stop you in your tracks at Warped Tour, or would make you open Shazam on your phone to identify the song if you overheard it coming from someone’s car stereo.

“Heartbreaker is a new, completely different, mature sound for Heart To Heart,” Zoppo says. “This record means the most to me, especially lyrically. I think of real pain in my life that I connect to music, and that’s what I draw on when writing lyrics.”

Look no further than Heartbreaker’s opening track, “Ø Love,” which finds Zoppo keenly observing, “We all learn from loss and pain and suffering.” Or check out “Someone Else,” which includes a potent bit of dialogue from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Or just press “play” on standout track “Insufferable,” which sounds like the dissolving of a relationship in real time — and according to Zoppo, it was.

“It was literally what we were going through at the time,” he says. “I am telling the story as it happens — we were breaking up while I was in the studio. I’m speaking my mind and not holding anything back.”

It’s clear that Zoppo approaches each song as if it could be his last, using his lyrics as a way to directly speak his mind, no matter who may get caught in the crossfire. His approach may ruffle a few feathers (“I get texted from the subjects of songs sometimes,” he says with a chuckle), but it also allows for deeper bonds to be formed, as you can hear in the emotionally gripping “The (Q)uiet War,” a passionate song about mental health, which includes a real voicemail message from a musician friend of Zoppo’s who was near the point of ending his own life.

“You can just hear the true emotion and true pain in it,” he says of his friend’s confession, assuring that the friend is in a much better headspace now. “It’s a war inside your head daily. Even me — I play this character that’s full of himself in the wrestling ring, but I’m also trying to remember if I took my depression medication this morning. I like being a public figure that can talk about these things openly, and hopefully try to motivate someone else to remind them there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s completely okay to not be okay.”

Zoppo not is only constantly working on himself, he is also helping others — the singer/wrestler is currently working toward his masters degree in special education, and he makes time in his busy schedule to work in a special ed class as well. All of this goes into making Zoppo a surprisingly vulnerable frontman — but while vulnerability might shine through in the studio, once he gets onstage, all bets are off.

“When I would go onstage, I would be this character that eventually turned into Zicky Dice,” he says. “Angus Young from AC/DC used to say he would black out onstage, and I feel that’s the same for me. I’m all about entertaining the crowd. Yeah, they’re there to listen to music. But this is a chance to give them a performance. I look forward to sharing these songs with the world as an older, more mature me and a more mature band.”

With Heartbreaker, Heart To Heart are ready to reintroduce themselves to the world. They’re older and wiser, sure; they all carry a few more scars, both physical and emotional; but their musicianship is more advanced than it’s ever been, and they’re ready to kick the listener in the face, sonically speaking.

“We really took our time and tried a lot of different things we haven’t done musically before,” Zoppo says. “New vocal techniques, harmonies, guitar overlays… We were in the studio for months, because we knew Heartbreaker had to be something incredible. Everyone here has a lot of shit on the line. We all really want to be our best.”

Quiet has ended. A revolution is about to begin. Heart to Heart are ready for you. Are you ready for them?
