They signed to ‘Primary Talent’ (live music agent) and ‘Crucible Management’ (band management) in 2004. Their first release was the CD EP ‘Untouchable’ on ‘Dirty Records’ in 2005.
The next release was a limited edition vinyl ‘Great British Summertime’ and single ‘Man On The Street’ on ‘ORG records’.
In 2007 Imperial Leisure and their management company set up their own record label and music company ‘Steamroller Music LTD’, employing other industry professionals and securing private investment for the support of the forthcoming release of their début album.
In 2008 they released 4 singles with national and local radio play (including BBC Radio One, BBC 6 Music, XFM, Absolute Radio). During this year Imperial Leisure also played many small festivals across the UK and larger ones including the Dance Stage at Glastonbury and the Red Bull stage at Bestival.
‘The Art Of Saying Nothing’ was Imperial Leisure’s first album released on Steamroller Music. The album launch took place at ‘The Scala’ live venue in London, England.
In 2012, second Album – ‘Death to the One Trick Pony’ – a change in direction and more melancholy than ‘The Art of Saying Nothing’.
In 2015, third album – ‘Lifestyle Brand’ – was released along with a new line up and had a very strong reception. It brought back the party atmosphere, incorporating the various styles of the new band members.
2018 saw the release of the single ‘Rrrrrollin’ to critical acclaim. This was tied into the 10 year anniversary tour of the first album, which saw headline slots at the O2 Academies in Oxford, Birmingham, Newcastle and Islington (London). For the London show there were 17 people on stage. Hailing from South London, dutchkid formed in late 2017 when Jordi van Dyk, Pete Coggan, Chris Smyth and Jack Kircher began collaborating to create a unique sound of ornately crafted synth-pop rhythms.

Debut Single Indicates Georgie Is One To Watch

Debut Single Indicates Georgie Is One To Watch

Indie Singer

Hailing from Fulham, London, the young singer-songwriter crafts her unique modern-pop sound, taking her cues from the silky production of acts like H.E.R, and incorporating elements of synth sand drums,– Georgie’s music is deeply inspired by household names like Billie Eilish and Tom Misch.
When asked about the track, Georgie stated: “I walked into my brother’s house to hear a drum groove him and one of his best friends had created, and within a couple hours of me arriving we had written and recorded the whole song. It’s about moments when we don’t trust our own judgement and the inner conflict that this leads to.”

Georgie has always had a love for music and was singing melodies before she could speak. Demonstrating her affinity for sublime pop music, her unique poetic lyrics set the 19-year-old in a league of her own.

Georgie is set to release ‘MAGNUM’ November 29th via AWAL. With this being her debut release, she’s definitely one to watch out for.

Oparu Releases New Single with Ghost To Follow

Oparu Releases New Single with Ghost To Follow

Indie Pop Artist

Opāru is Los Angeles based songwriter, singer and actress Dianna St. Hilaire. Known for her unique and introspective sound which fuses future electro with a dark ethereal undertone, Opāru produces dream-like operatic vocals, creating a fresh depiction of modern pop culture. Her music represents our animalistic nature and is a reminder to be true to ourselves, follow our path and relinquish fear, as we are the ones who can truly do anything we put our hearts and minds into.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, St. Hilaire started to write and perform music at a very young age in choir and musicals. Self taught, her first instrument was the piano and she worked tirelessly at the craft of reading and writing music. When St. Hilaire was in her late teens she began performing with punk bands and for producers as a back up/ studio vocalist in New Mexico, where she took on her first musical alias, the highly successful group Versailles.

St. Hilaire reinvented herself in late 2015 with the new project Opāru, deriving from the Japanese name of the birthstone opal. Opāru’s roots stem from experimental electronic, 80s synth pop, and alternative rock.  She confides, “The underlying theme in my music is the workings of the inner voice. The internal person that lingers buried under insecurities and fears. Why are there so many? Why do we as human beings tolerate environments where these feelings are projected onto us?” Her influences range from Madonna, The Cure, Lykke Li, Lana Del Rey, Halsey and SOHN.

Leading single ‘Ghost To Follow’ is about living in the shadow of yourself and the hope of acceptance from someone else. Opāru expresses, “You are so strong and wise and powerful but you live in the shadow of who you really are so that people around you will accept you. You’re so afraid that if you break through to your true beauty that you will lose those around you. So you stay silent and you keep your head down and hope that someday they will see you”. Co-written by Josh Stevens (LMFAO, Jennifer Lopez, and Pitbull), ‘Ghost To Follow’ which was influenced by Aurora’s ‘Running With The Wolves’ features simple piano melodies, stunning string arrangements and powerful lyricism, creating a theatrical and heartfelt release.

The beautiful cinematic visuals for ‘Ghost To Follow’ adopts scenery and nature to represent life experiences, the strong pull of water metaphorically submerging emotions, along with the vastness of the desert which exposes life’s many hurdles. Directed by Morningstar Sargenti (Missi Pyle, Timothy Hutton, Catarina Scorsone), the music video acts as encouragement, proving that overcoming obstacles will only make you wiser and stronger.

‘Love Me’ was strongly influenced by bands like MTNS and Royksopp and showcases glistening synths, haunting vocals and resonating baselines. Thematically focusing on the desire of longing, it narrates that relatable situation that we have all been in. “We are deceived, lied to, hurt, or abused by our significant others and in the end we close the door. We bar up the windows and seal our ultimate fate. We lock everything away so tightly that we don’t allow new joys into our world. We don’t see it but we become it. We absolutely refuse to trust anyone or allow anyone to get to close. When they do we lash out at them because we are afraid”, confides Opāru.

Partnering with the infamous Kim Fowley (The Runaways, Kiss, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper), Opāru has toured the US extensively, been featured on the official Grammy ballots, as well as charting on Billboard. Versailles’s music was also on rotation with popular stations across the U.S. including KROQ and NPR tastemaker KCRW. The songstress continues her journey with the release of ‘Ghost To Follow’ currently available worldwide.

New Release from Julia Jonas to Lift You High

New Release from Julia Jonas to Lift You High

Pop Singer Indie Artist

Sweden based artist and producer Julia Jonas has just released her new single ‘Lift You High’, taken from the forthcoming EP Air which sees her sharing her honest and at times challenging life experiences.

The new track combines introspection with the idea of perseverance and patience – whilst dealing with struggle, the overall message is one of hope.

Julia was born in Cape Town but grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. Having spent years of her childhood in a conflict-ridden country, later followed by the challenges of adapting to a society with little resemblance to her roots, music became her way of expressing herself and she started exploring and experimenting with sounds in her basement home studio as a means of escape.

These experiences inform the subject of the new single. She tells us that

the track reflects a feeling of loneliness and alienation when feeling pressured to fit in but having the strength to strive for diversity and tolerance despite it. Being quite obviously different in a world where people strive for uniformity creates very strong feelings of loneliness and exclusion.

In this case I was inspired by people with a sexual orientation that deviates from the majority. When your identity is the difference that separates you from the majority, you easily feel judged and rejected.”

Julia Jonas will released the single ‘Lift You High’ on November 15th

New EP Air will be available everywhere November 29th.
