Rock’s Awesomest Super Heroes The Aquabats Celebrate 25th Anniversary with Release of Television Show Soundtrack, New Studio Albums and a new Fall Tour w/ PPL MVR

 

In fall of 2018, thousands of Aquabats fans young and old stood up and proclaimed, “I am The Aquabats!,” by joining the band’s Kickstarter and raising over $690,000 – funding two new full-length studio albums and 12 web-exclusive episodes of their Emmy Award-winning kids’ show The Aquabats! Super Show!

Now the group carries that momentum in 2019 with their first release since 2011’s Hi-Five Soup! Released June 7th,The Aquabats! Super Show! Soundtrack Vol. 1 is a 27-track genre-defying, high-energy celebration of the wackiness that made Super Show! some of the most unique kids’ TV in the last decade. Fans of the show and The Aquabats’ music alike will love getting their hands on never-before-heard extended versions of tunes from the show, including “Burger Rain,” “Feel My Steel” and “The Dude Theme.”

2019 marks the band’s 25th year and promises to be one of their best yet. The year will round out with West and East Coast headlining tours in the fall to coincide with the release of their first fan-funded full-length studio album in October.

About The Aquabats
TV’s punk rock superheroes The Aquabats formed in 1994 in Orange County as a way to have some harmless fun in a music scene that took itself too seriously. Their Paul Frank designed “power belts,” trademark blue rash guards, black eye masks, “anti-negativity” helmets and onstage antics quickly caught on, earning the group a fiercely loyal following that spans generations. Their line-up and music is continuously evolving, including Blink 182’s Travis Barker as former drummer “Baron Von Tito.” To date, The Aquabats’ music library includes The Return of the Aquabats (1996), The Fury of the Aquabats! (1997), The Aquabats vs. The Floating Eye of Death (1999), Myths, Legends and Other Amazing Adventures, Vol. 2 (2000), Yo! Check Out This Ride! (EP, 2004) Charge!! (2005), Radio Down! (EP, 2010), Hi-Five Soup! (2011).

About The Aquabats! Super Show!
In 2012, the band debuted The Aquabats! Super Show!, a live-action musical comedy television series which aired on the Hub Network. Known for its bizarre humor, callback style and celebrity guest appearances (“Weird Al” Yankovic, Tony Hawk, Mark Mothersbaugh, Lou Diamond Phillips, Rhys Darby, Jon Heder, Paul Scheer and more), the show received eight multiple Daytime EMMY nominations and one win. Super Show!’s run was cut short when The Hub closed in 2014, leaving fans consistently asking for a return.

Artist and frontman of legendary punk rock band Strung Out, Jason Cruz, will celebrate the launch of his new children’s book ‘There are such things as in your dreams’ with a fine art exhibition at Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica, CA this October.

The FREE all-ages exhibition kicks off with an artist reception on Friday, October 25 at 6pm, presented by Art Crisis Management and Punk Rock & Paintbrushes. The evening will also feature works by guest artist Steve Caballero, as well as a special acoustic performance by Strung Out.

The exhibition is also open to the public on October 26 from 11am-5pm.

About Jason Cruz: Musician and Artist

Jason Alexander Cruz is an artist, musician, father and motorcycle enthusiast. Trading an art scholarship for the open road Cruz began touring with his band Strung Out at an early age and never looked back. With over eleven full-length albums under his belt and 30 years of touring he still continues to write and perform with the same band he started over 30 years ago

As an artist, Cruz has shown his work in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Tokyo. His inspirations include 80’s Venice skate culture, graffiti, Basquiat, Lee Bonticou, and the Pulp covers of Robert McGinnis.

Jason says, “I became fascinated with and started collecting children’s book before I ever thought of having kids. I loved the freedom of children’s books, the possibilities, and the rhythm. As an artist and musician, it seemed like an obvious choice to make my own. Once I became a father I began the process of creating this book.

‘There are such things as in your Dreams’ took two years to complete and will be my first book in a series of three children’s books. It’s basically a bedtime song with illustrations providing the music.”

Jodi Vaughan to perform Tamworth Country Music Festival for the first time


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

New Zealand Country star Jodi Vaughan will travel to Tamworth for the first time in January. Jodi is Australian born but carved her career out as a major recording artist in New Zealand in the 1980s. Despite being a multi award winning and nominated artist, with 4 solo top selling albums under her belt in New Zealand. (These can be found on spotify, Apple Music).  The only release to hit Australian shores was 1982 New Zealand Platinum album with Brendan Dugan ‘Fairweather Friends’ .

Brendan Dugan and Jodi Vaughan’s names together became synonymous as New Zealand’s Golden Duo of Country Music. At Tamworth Country Music Festival  2020 they will be ‘Together in Tamworth’ for the first time. Ticketed shows and other profiled appearances at Tamworth Country Music Festival  for the two New Zealand country legends ,both together and individually to be announced soon.

Nigel Westlake’s emotionally charged work to be premiered and toured by the Australian String Quartet

Celebrated Australian composer Nigel Westlake’s new work Sacred Sky will be premiered by the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) in an evocative program alongside works by Charles Ives and Claude Debussy.

Commissioned by the ASQ* and written as an homage to the spirit of his late sister Kate, who passed away in early 2018, Westlake’s piece renders emotions related to life and loss in the special way that only music can truly accomplish.

“I have endeavoured to invoke Kate’s spirit, in the hope of imbuing the music with themes of beauty, energy, soulfulness, and transcendence. Inevitably the fingerprints of grief and sadness permeate the musical narrative at times.” Nigel Westlake

This will be Westlake’s third string quartet, and the first written for the ASQ. Among a myriad of concert hall compositions across his four-decade career, the highly praised and award-winning composer is also known for his film scores which include Ali’s Wedding, Paper Planes, Miss Potter, Babe, Babe II and IMAX films Antarctica, Imagine, Solarmax and The Edge.

For over 30 years, the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) has created unforgettable string quartet performances for national and international audiences. Dedicated to musical excellence with a distinctly Australian character, the Quartet’s purpose is to create chemistry and amplify intimacy through experiences that connect people with string quartet music.

 

From its home base at the University of Adelaide, Elder Conservatorium of Music, the ASQ reaches out across Australia and the world to engage people with an outstanding program of performances, workshops, commissions and education projects. The Quartet’s distinct sound is enhanced by a matched set of 18th century Guadagnini instruments, handcrafted by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini between c.1743 and 1784 in Turin and Piacenza, Italy. These precious instruments are on loan for the ASQ’s exclusive use through the generosity of UKARIA.

116 Young Talents for the 3rd Zhuhai Mozart Competition in September


 

 

 

 

 

 

After the pre-selection in the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, 116 young pianists and violinists from 16 countries and regions will enter the 3rd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians, an event organized by Huafa Group. In its first press conference held on August 8th, it was announced that this year’s competition will be held from September 10th to 22nd in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. The 116 candidates will show the best of them in 3 groups for each instrument based on the age, and the grand winner will claim the highest award of USD 30,000.

The inaugural Zhuhai Mozart Competition was held in 2015 and followed by the successful second competition in 2017, with the full support from the Mozarteum University Salzburg, and the certification by the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Genova and the Alink-Argerich Foundation. The competition has connected the name of Mozart with the city of Zhuhai, and empowered the city with the charm of music and art.

Many of the winners from previous competitions have made great further achievements, winning top prizes from the International Mozart Competition Salzburg, the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition, the Junior Division of the 2018 Menuhin Competition and most recently, the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019.

For the 3rd Zhuhai Mozart Competition, an important new rule has been set that forbids the students of the juries to participate in the competition, to ensure an open and fair competition. In addition, an award for “Best Interpretation of Chinese Works” has also been introduced for the candidates to discover the beauty of Chinese music masterpieces.

Furthermore, a group of “young critics” including 10 students from non-conservatory schools in China has been assembled, they will review and select their favorite candidates from the 3rd Zhuhai Mozart Competition. This is a first for any music competitions in China.

A series of concerts, exhibitions, lectures and workshops will also be held in Zhuhai during the two weeks, under the title of the first “Mozart Festival – Music plus Life”, making it a carnival not only for the music lovers but also for all the people in Zhuhai. The city of Zhuhai welcomes all the guests from the world to enjoy the music and witness the rising of future stars.

After the announcement of the forthcoming Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M² film last week, Trafalgar Releasing is excited to reveal the official trailer for the film. Metallica and San Francisco Symphony reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their original S&M (Symphony & Metallica) show with S&M², filmed at San Francisco’s new Chase Center. The film will be released on October 9th.

The original S&M concerts were performed by Metallica and San Francisco Symphony and conducted by the late Michael Kamen in spring of 1999 at the Berkeley Community Theatre. 2019’s S&M² concert will feature the first live performances of these arrangements in 20 years, plus the first-ever Metallica and San Francisco Symphony renditions of songs written and released since the original concert, with new orchestral charts by Bruce Coughlin.

Legendary conductor Michael Tilson Thomas completes the first week of his final season as San Francisco Symphony Music Director with a special appearance, conducting a portion of the show.

Metallica’s first collaboration with San Francisco Symphony was documented by the Grammy-winning live album S&M.

Piano learning is made easier for beginners with the Arcade, a full-sized display that turns the piano into a retro-style game.

ForteRight, a music, media, and technology start-up is launching the Arcade on Kickstarter. The Arcade is a piano keyboard trainer device that is designed to teach anyone how to play the piano in minutes. Paired with a companion mobile application, the device provides a video game-like experience that smooths the learning curve for beginners and makes the process fun.

 

Notes are represented on-screen by simple visual bars that cascade downward to the actual keys on a piano. The player simply has to play the notes when the indicators reach the bottom of the display, and their performance is tracked by a scoring system. Learning is effortless as players attempt to achieve high scores on the songs they are playing.

“Whether its children, college students or working adults, we’re constantly amazed at how fast complete beginners can pick up the piano using the Arcade,” said Roger, co-founder of ForteRight. “We believe everyone has an innate desire to play music. However, learning an instrument can be hard, so we aim to change that.”

A Video Game Approach

The Arcade was borne out of the realisation that anyone can spend hours enjoyably focused on a video game. These long hours tend to translate to actual skills being developed, albeit skills that are limited to the video game itself.

By making piano playing more like a video game, learning and mastering the piano can be made into a fun and engaging experience. Therefore, the ForteRight team adapted various features of video game design into their system, ensuring that the process remains engaging for hours on end.

Amongst these features are bright visuals, individual levels, scoring, and practice modes. The ForteRight team commented that they are working on adding a multiplayer element to the Arcade as well.

ForteRight App Integration

The Arcade integrates with a mobile application that allows players to connect wirelessly and stream visual lessons as well as access music scores from the online library. It eliminates the common difficulties experienced by users when reading the scores or turning the pages of a music score, therefore giving them the freedom to concentrate on their performance.

Once the user chooses a song from the library, they can learn it via Practice Mode. This mode breaks the song down into sections as well as isolating the left-hand and right-hand components. It allows the learner to grasp the right keys as the song does not progress unless the correct notes are played.

After the song is learned in Practice Mode, the user may attempt to play it in real-time. The app tracks the user’s scores to benchmark their performance. Note accuracy, timing, and smoothness of play is measured so players have a clear view of where they can improve.

LogoHall of fame radio personality Bobby Rich, legacy station manager Jim Arnold and local downtown champion Fletcher McCusker have joined forces to launch the only totally Tucson owned-and-operated commercial AM and FM radio station at 101.7FM and AM830.

“I am now officially un-retired,” said Rich, a 25-year Tucson talent who anchored the top-rated morning show on MIX FM since 1993.  “This is a dream come true for all of us: a chance to select our own music and manage content that matters to Tucson – not some corporate office in Dallas, LA or New York – and have incredible fun while making great radio.”

The trio of well-known Tucsonans recently acquired the stations from Family Life Radio after its move to 104.1 and have converted to an original format of music and local, live personalities. 

“Bobby is responsible for the format and music collection,” said McCusker, chairman of the new board. “And there is nobody better than Jim when it comes to media management.”

Branded as The DRIVE, KDRI Tucson originates 24/7 broadcasting from McCusker’s old headquarters at Scott and Broadway downtown.  The station is designed to appeal to baby boomers whose radio options have become overlooked and underserved by local radio. With a catalogue of over 2,000 songs, the distinctive presentation will be unlike anything in the region and maybe in the country. 

Joining Bobby Rich on the morning show is Hill Bailey, another local radio veteran and a Tucsonan since 1987. She grew up on the Eastside and graduated from Tucson High. She attended the University of Arizona to study media arts and got her first taste of radio on the U of A radio station KAMP. After a decade on the radio in Colorado and California, she returned to Tucson, joined KHYT, married, and welcomed a daughter in March 2017.

Middays are hosted live by Ken Carr, a media veteran who started his career in Nebraska. He fell in love with the people and weather of Tucson in 2001 and has lived here ever since. You’ve heard him on KRQ, Z104 and MEGA, and you’ve seen his work as executive producer at KGUN 9 TV. Since 2009, he has run a Twitter channel @WhatsUpTucson, which is 100% local content featuring up to the minute Tucson news and info. The profile has nearly 100,000 followers. 

Afternoons, The DRIVE welcomes the famous (or infamous) talent from San Diego known as “The Mikey Show.” Mike Esparza is a 30-year radio professional who started his career in Tucson. His years on the air have taken “The Mikey Show” to DallasSan FranciscoSan Diego and now back home.

To host the evening shift, The DRIVE acquires California personality Tyler Russell, currently at KX 93.5 in Laguna Beachand a veteran of the LA radio scene. Tyler grew up in Tucson, is a graduate of St. Gregory High School and started his career as an intern for Bobby Rich before gigs at K-EARTH, KIIS and KCLB in Southern California.

Listeners can hear the KDRI-AM830 signal while driving from the Mexican border to Phoenix and the new management is enhancing the AM broadcast to improve sound quality.  The DRIVE 101.7-FM signal can be heard all over the Tucson valley, allowing for frequent road reports and local information. The music will be familiar without playing the same 40 songs over and over, and you’ll be able to connect with local, live DJs.

Australian Country Duo

Destiny Band Oz (Australian, Gippsland-based Thomas and Tessa Libreri and their band) have won the International Band of the Year 2019 International Singer Songwriter Association Awards held in Atlanta USA yesterday!
This is no mean feat  with hundreds of nominees vying for positions in the various categories!  Destiny Band Oz were nominated in 9 categories of the International section and made it through as finalists in 6 of those categories; winning the Band of the Year category.  Thanks go to all who nominated Destiny Band Oz (Thomas and Tessa are very humbled by the support) and they extend their congratulations to all the winners, finalists and the organizers.
Unfortunately Thomas and Tessa  were unable to attend the gala ceremony to accept the award but a lovely 12 inch high, solid crystal obelisk will be arriving in the mail shortly; so this trophy, (along with Destiny Band Oz’s other recent awards, the 2018 Gold Medallion Media Award for Band or Duo, the 2018 TICMA National Country Band of the Year, Akademia Music Award (USA) and 3 x International Clouzine Music Awards 2018-2019) will be going straight to the pool room! 😉
Lately Thomas and Tessa have been keeping busy gigging, writing and recording their own music – as well as other people’s songs!  So Tessa would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the radio presenters who have been playing the duet ‘I’ll Be Home Soon’ which country balladeer, Gary Ellis asked her to record with him for his new album which was released last month.  It has made #3 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay chart, #7 on an independent USA chart and is currently #5 on the Tasmanian chart. Tessa was also asked by songwriter and Diamondback Records boss, Glenn Erickson, to record one of his compositions which will will be released in October 2019 while Destiny Band Oz are touring Tasmanian venues on their October Tassie Tour with solo artist, Garry Hunt. The Rebirth Of Australian Metalcore comes ‘Capture’

Out of the ashes of beloved Australian metalcore outfit Capture The Crown comes a rebirth, with the formation of Capture, which brings together original CTC frontman Jeff Wellfare, drummer Manny Dominick (Ghost Town, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa) and bassist Erik Vaughn Weatherford (Oh, Manhattan), for a completely new creative force that represents the union of three singular talents whose own roads twisted and turned to reach this point.

Propelled by the promise and potential of a clean slate together, Capture is now set to release their debut effort ‘Lost Control’ on August 16th via Artery Recordings.

On August 15, Capture will launch a tour with Alesana in support of the new LP. See dates/cities below. Venues will be announced shortly.

Of the new single, Jeff says, “No Cure was written and recorded during a hyper-politicized period where religion was the focus of negative basis, the world seemed separated into several groups.

There was much debate on the topic and it resonated with us; we strived to twist the ideology of these issues in a way that would open people’s minds to what is really important to them regardless of what race, religion, sex etc. No Cure may come across like a backhand to religion but it is much deeper than that and can be perceived as a deeper reflection of everyone’s inner battles. In saying that we hope everyone can take something different away from the song. For me personally, it’s about self-empowerment, inner-demons and overcoming the obstacles in front of you.”

In speaking about the new video, Erik says, “We worked hand in hand with our director, Embryo, to help bring this concept to life. It was very important to us to show the duality between self-empowerment and relying solely on one’s beliefs in difficult situations. It’s such a fine line and a personal battle essentially within your self with this other side of you. We wanted to bring that battle to life in a cinematic way while doing justice to this prevalent theme from our debut track “No Cure””.

“All three of us are from entirely different backgrounds, yet this album brought us together for a new chapter,” adds Erik. “We’ve got a relatable story to tell.”

“The idea was to do something completely different,” explains Jeff. “We wanted to test ourselves, experiment, and push the envelope. We came out with this roller coaster of a record that has something for everyone. This is a fresh sound. It’s a fresh start, full stop.”

The “fresh start” encompassed major musical strides. The musicians unlocked an elusive nexus between metal and melody equally influenced by everything from Linkin Park to Slowdive and Coldplay. In order to bottle this energy, they entered a Portland studio alongside producer Kris Crummett [Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance] and emerged with the twelve tracks comprising Lost Control. The sonics expanded over the course of the process. They incorporated analog synths throughout the fabric of the record in addition to inviting a twelve-person choir to “body the album and make it feel full” during “High,” “Lost Control,” “Is This (Love),” and teaser track “The Lake.”

The title spoke to a shared experience.

“Lost Control complements the chaos surrounding all of us,” the frontman continues. “You often don’t have control—except within your art.”
Capture take the reins of their destiny on the 2019 single “No Cure.” The song immediately snaps into a double bass gallop punctuated by nimble thrashed-out riffing and Jeff’s seismic chant, “You’d better pray for yourself because there’s nobody else.” A harrowing cinematic video accompanies the song, weaving a captivating cultish narrative.

“It might seem so in-your-face lyrically, but it’s incredibly metaphorical,” Jeff admits. “You can read into it—or not. We wanted to leave it up for interpretation.”

“We’re really bringing different things together,” adds Manny. “

“We’re bridging the gap between different genres, keeping the integrity of a heavy background but infusing pop elements, bright choruses, and synths. These songs prove it.”

Elsewhere, “Alive” unfolds from hypnotic verses into an instantly unshakable chorus under strains of distorted guitar and shuddering piano keys. As Jeff puts it, “‘Alive’ gives the album a softer and anthemic start with a lot of dynamics. It’s the beginning of the journey.”

Sonny Sandoval drops a knockout cameo on “High,” Thomas Erak from Fall of Troy lays down some cracking guest vocals on “Alive” and Earth Caller’s Josh Collard lends his scream to “Dead Hollywood.” Everything culminates on the punked-up barrage of “This Ones For You,” which hinges on a guttural gang vocal and delivers “a crowd pleaser for everyone to sing along to.”

In the end, everyone will be singing along to Capture.

“We’d just love for people to relate,” Jeff leaves off. “We’ve got something very special between us, and we can’t wait to share it.”

Sony Music Masterworks today announced it has acquired Milan Records, an international leader in film and television scores and soundtracks.  Founded over 40 years ago by Emmanuel ChamboredonMilan Records has released the soundtracks to renowned and critically acclaimed classics such as DivaGhostBackdraftBenny & Joon as well as recent hits including The Revenant, Deadpool, Chef, Under The Skin, Birdman, Midsommar and Hereditary

As part of this transaction, Sony Music Masterworks also acquires Milan’s sister label Jade, which comprises more than 500 liturgical and classical albums from across the globe.  Under the agreement, JC Chamboredon, Senior Vice President, Milan Records and son of Emmanuel Chamboredon, will continue to run Milan Records, reporting to Mark Cavell, Sony Music Masterworks U.S. Label Head and COO International.

This agreement enhances Sony Music Masterworks’ presence in the film, television and gaming soundtrack business and provides Milan Records with stronger and more unified global distribution, marketing and promotion resources. Milan Records boasts an impressive catalogue of film and television soundtracks as well as independent artist releases and works with some of today’s most prominent filmmakers including Nicolas Winding Refn, Gaspar Noé and Alejandro González Iñárritu as well as award-winning composer and artist Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Tejano Recording Artist Lucy Rodriguez

Lucy Rodriguez’s case highlights need to protect works

 

A Federal Court in San Antonio, Texas, ordered the payment of $29,000 in damages and attorney’s fees, to Corpus Christi based Tejano artist and Air Force veteran, Lucy Rodriguez, as a result of a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against music producer Eric Avalos, Avalos’ company Chavalos Music Inc. and Cortney Rico. The claim involved the song Pediré, which Rodriguez widely released and promoted in 2015, under her Emerald Records label. The song was originally composed by Juan Villarreal and Rodriguez owns the rights to the song. The dispute originated in 2017, when Rico and Avalos recorded and commercially released Pediré, without permission.

In 2018, Rodriguez’s attorneys sent cease and desist letters demanding Rico and Avalos stop their infringement. Avalos removed the song from digital distribution and offered to pay all revenue generated, totaling $31.61 dollars, and further promised to discontinue any involvement with the song.

“Based on a public claim from Rico’s promoter of 2,000 purchases, we expected higher revenue, however, the sales report only showed 36 sales. To avoid further litigation, I agreed to the proposal,” Rodriguez said.

Despite Rodriguez’s attorneys reaching out to the defendants to formally close the matter, neither defendant followed through nor were the defendants done infringing on Rodriguez’s work.

In January of 2019, Rodriguez’s rights were again infringed when Cortney Rico, publicly performed Pediré at a music venue alongside Eric Avalos, created a video of the performance and distributed it on the internet.

“Creating and distributing a music video without obtaining a synchronization license from the owner, is another way to break Copyright Law,” Rodriguez explained.

The choice to move forward via the courts was as much about exercising the protection she has under the law, as to bring caution to fellow professional musicians. “Had I not registered my work, this case would have taken much longer to resolve,” Rodriguez warns.

The US Western District Court ruled that the defendant’s actions were willful, allowing for damages, attorney’s fees and a permanent injunction banning defendants use of Pediré.  Copyright Law is complex and constantly updating (as recently exemplified by the Supreme Court’s Fourth Estate decision).  Ms. Rodriguez partnered with San Antonio intellectual property attorneys Brandon Cook and Mike Villarreal in achieving this victory.

 

MPW created to go beyond the realms of educating women

Xylo Aria is a singer, producer, entrepreneur and true visionary. Born in India, identifying with Australia but residing in the UK, Xylo brings her global perspective into her music and everything she does. Her journey in mu-sic began during her formative years while being introduced to traditional Indian Car-natic music by her grandmother. Sparking her interest, she began creating originals at the age of 12 and collaborating with numer-ous Melbourne based producers. This lead to her debut EP release, Arrow, followed by the single Paradigm both of which got significant coverage on Australian publications including Tonedeaf, Music Talks and Australian Music Scene as well as radio coverage on numer-ous independent radios such as PBS and Tri-ple R.

In 2017 Xylo took the decision to produce her own music, after which she released her first self produced track Pig which was the first of a few tracks with an environmental message. The track was hailed as “A haunting slice of downtempo electronica dealing with some heady issues” by music blog Pile Rats and it did indeed have a unique ambient quality which would soon become her signa-ture.

After the release of collaboration track MRI, Xylo began reflecting on the hardships she faced as a female musician working with a choice of only male producers and also the challenges of learn-ing to self produce one’s music in an area of music which was heavily dominated by men. This self-reflection planted the seed for the online education platform MPW – Music Production for Women. Launched in 2019, which she founded and created.

MPW was created to go beyond the realms of educating women, and become a movement in the music industry which would empower and encourage more women to take their first steps into music technology. Within it’s first few months of conception MPW has been asked to participate in a Lever-hulme Trust funded study undertaken by Portsmouth University exploring the causes of female un-der-representation in music production, featured in numerous podcasts and included in various arti-cles on the topic and received support from music software giant, Ableton Live. The MPW workshops

will be taken on tour through Europe in August 2019. Xylo’s sheer determination and persistence in proactively equipping any interested women with the skills she needs to enter music production is truly inspirational. “It’s time we started empowering ourselves and each other, if we wait for others to provide the stepping stone, we’ll be waiting forever” she says.
